Mission Statement:

The mission of the Somali Foundation, Inc. is to assist East African refugees and other immigrants to adjust socially to the United States and live with economic security and good health by providing services, education, and advocacy while honoring their culture.

Statement from Executive Director:

My name is Farah Abdi and I have been the executive director of the Somali Foundation since 2004. I was one of the three original members who founded the Somali Foundation, Inc. in 1999. Our foundation has a unique relationship with the refugee community because our agency was established by refugees and has served that population for many years.

We strive to honor our culture by celebrating African holidays, providing community luncheons, and instilling pride in our fellow refugees through education about East African culture. We have good relationships with other groups and have formed great partnerships that help us provide the best possible service. I am excited about the future of the Somali Foundation and I am proud to be a part of the Kansas City, Missouri community.
